Funding for voluntary emergency services

Local voluntary emergency service organisations will be able to update their facilities and purchase new equipment through a State Government grants stream.

In announcing the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program, available to Coast Guard flotillas, fire brigades, SES groups and surf lifesaving organisations, The Nationals Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, said it was a great opportunity for volunteer emergency services.

“These grants, which offer up to $100,000, will assist emergency service groups to respond to emergencies such as fires, floods, heatwaves, storms, water rescues or related incidents,” Mr Bull said.

“The grants can be used to buy additional operational equipment like vehicles, trucks, tankers, trailers and watercraft, as well as supporting minor facility improvements.

“These volunteers play a key role in protecting the welfare of all Victorians and I encourage these emergency service organisations in East Gippsland to apply for the funding.”

Mr Bull said the Government would contribute $2 to every $1 of funding contributed by the local volunteer groups.
