“Victalent” funding for local clubs

More Victorians will have the opportunity to get physically active thanks to a $175,000 funding boost for 136 local sport and recreation initiatives to encourage more active and healthy communities.

Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, said the “Victalent” grants scheme reflected the Coalition Government’s ongoing commitment to sport and recreation in country Victoria, and the important role sporting and recreation organisations play in nurturing local talent and supporting grassroots sport.

Local clubs and associations who were successful in the recent phase of “Victalent” grants funding were:

  • Bairnsdale & District Table Tennis/Keenagers Association
  • Bairnsdale Croquet Club
  • East Gippsland Indigenous Aquaculture Co-operative
  • Swan Reach Hockey Club
  • Stratford Football & Netball Club

"These grants go a long way to help these community and sporting clubs increase their skills base, and improve their administration and program delivery so they can provide even better opportunities for their communities,” Mr Bull said.

"I applaud the officials, coaches, athletes and teams who are required to travel extensively, or continually seek to improve ways in which they can develop their own potential, or that of their club.

"Supporting local organisations to operate more effectively is just one of the many ways the Victorian Government is ensuring even more people can play sport and get active more often.

“Great initiatives like these will not only encourage more people to get involved in sport and recreation, but strengthen communities by improving their overall collective well-being," Mr Bull said.
