Education Minister, Martin Dixon, took time to visit the Bairnsdale Secondary College and Bairnsdale West Primary School on his visit to the region Friday. Mr Dixon was in East Gippsland to officially open the Eagle Point Primary School, but at the request of the Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, took time out to visit the two Bairnsdale based schools.
The Coalition committed to the rebuild of the Bairnsdale Secondary College in its first term and Friday provided the opportunity for the Minister to tour the facility, where he re-affirmed that commitment. “The school council representatives made it clear they saw the rebuild as an extremely high priority and would like to see it delivered in the first half of the first term of this government.
“It was good for the Minister to walk around the facility and see first hand the need for an upgrade,” said Mr Bull.
While in Bairnsdale, Minister Dixon also visited Bairnsdale West Primary School to look over their recently finished BER project, which was a non-template design.
He also chatted about support funding for children with special needs and school council outlined some concerns with the current process.
